High tables
It is becoming increasingly important to alternate between standing and sitting at work. Furthermore, it has been proven that standing meetings lead to greater productivity. For this reason, Arco has a range of high tables in its collection. Each one is suitable for the workplace. We also have matching high chairs in our collection to go with the high tables.
Standing meetings
Do you have an office job? If so, you’ll probably recognise the following statement: people with office jobs spend a lot of time sitting down at their desks, during lunch or during meetings. However, dining is often associated with sitting at a table, but that doesn’t have to be the case, of course. Try using a standing desk at work from time to time. Alternate between sitting at your desk and working standing up at a standing desk.
The benefits of standing meetings
Standing meetings have a number of advantages over seated meetings:
1. Standing meetings are 34 per cent faster than regular meetings.
2. They’re healthier. By alternating between standing and sitting during the working day – and therefore also during meetings – you improve blood circulation and, consequently, your health.
3. Standing meetings are more productive. Meeting participants remain more alert because they have to exert themselves more than when sitting in a chair. Furthermore, people are less likely to be distracted when standing. In a seated meeting, people often bring a laptop or smartphone with them, which causes distraction.
Tips for standing meetings
Are you convinced of the benefits of standing meetings? Convince your colleagues too and give it a go. Here are a few tips:
- Limit the duration of a standing meeting. Try to keep it to no more than half an hour. If the meeting does run longer, take a short break to sit down every half hour.
- Minimise distractions as much as possible. Appoint one person to take the minutes, using a laptop, tablet or notepad.
- Using flexible standing tables and meeting tables is literally a step in the right direction.
