“REALLY” EN ROUTE TO A CIRCULAR ECONOMY PARTNERED BY ARCO FROM THE START

Founded in 2013 and recently acquired by the Kvadrat Group, Really is a specialist in recycling – or upcycling – of waste materials. Really transforms end-of-life textiles into the engineered material Solid Textile Board: a high-density material made from end-of-life cotton and wool from the fashion and textile industries, and households. Solid Textile Board, which is itself fully recyclable, can be used in a range of contexts, such as table tops. Arco, the Dutch family business that already has experience of 25 years’ close partnership with Kvadrat, is working with Really to explore potential applications for the new product. Arco will be unveiling a prototype of Jonathan Prestwich’s Grid table, featuring a Solid Textile Board top, at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2017.

“We were very happy when Really approached us and we’re proud to be one of the first to work with this innovative material,” explains Jorre van Ast, Arco’s owner and Creative Director. Durability and recycling are key values for his business: “We prefer to work with natural materials, mostly wood, but also biopolymer (natural solid surface). We believe that using Solid Textile Board complements this approach.”
