„slim table“ von arco contemporary furniture gewinnt den iF gold award 2008
Die international hoch besetzte Jury des iF product design award 2008 (u.a. mit Jochen Hahne, James Irvine, Leo Lübke, Philipp Mainzer, Jasper Morrison) unter dem Vorsitz von Fritz Frenkler hat den “slim table” des niederländischen Herstellers arco contemporary furniture, Entwurf Studio Bertjan Pot, in der Kategorie Möbel zum Gewinner prämiert und mit dem iF gold award ausgezeichnet.
Das Urteil der Juroren: Slim Table ist ein Ess- und Arbeitstisch, der eingliedrig, puristisch und in seiner Konstruktion als „schwebendes kleines Wunder“ daherkommt. Die Oberfläche sei „traumhaft“, die Verarbeitung „so schön, wie man sie sich nur wünschen kann“.
Dies entsprach dem Credo der Jury: „ In diesem Jahr haben authentische Produkte ganz klar den Vorzug erhalten. Nicht Fusion, nicht Retro, kein ‚so-tun-als-ob’. Nur wer die Einfachheit und Bedienungsschlichtheit von Produkten erkannt hat, kann auf Dauer erfolgreich sein und die ‚Neue Moderne’ mit prägen!“ (Fitz Frenkler)
Damit kann sich der slim table einreihen mit weiteren iF gold award Gewinnern anderer Kategorien wie das iPhone und der iPod nano von Apple, dem Tiguan von Volkswagen oder der Showerpipe von Antonio Citterio für Hansgrohe.
On Saturday October 18th, the Dutch Design Awards 2008 were presented. Wall cabinet Pivot, designed by Shay Alkalay won the award for ‘best residential product 2008’. In 2006 Arco received this prestigious award for the Slim table designed by Bertjan Pot.
The mission of the Dutch Design Awards is the appreciation of excellent Dutch design. The Dutch Design Awards intend to show and appreciate Dutch design in its widest sense. They wish to reflect the position of Dutch design in the world. The award undeniably represents the best works in The Netherlands at that particular moment.
Pivot is a surprising cabinet, which is ideally suited to storing small items and everyday necessities. The solid wood cabinet is built on tall legs and features two drawers. The innovative aspect of this cabinet is the fact that the drawers can hinge, making it possible to open both at the same time, which is impossible with a conventional set of drawers.
